| 8751 e-Health LAN
The OMNIKEY® health card terminal is based on a new technology platform and was developed to fulfill the demanding requirements of the telematics infrastructure for the German ehealth project, issuing a new processor based health card to approx. 80 mil. citizens in 2009.
It is the first of a new reader family combining the advantages of contact and contactless Smart Card security with the flexibility of Local Area Networks (LAN) based on Internet technology.
Thanks to its LAN interface and the herein defined Secure Interoperable Chipcard Terminal (SICCT) Protocol designed by TeleTrusT, secure communication between terminal and client is ensured. Also standard interfaces for PC-connected Smart Card readers such as CT-API and PC/SC 2.01 (planned for Q4 2008) can be used. These are tunneled transparently via HTTPS to the terminal allowing secure operation of all contact and contactless interfaces to connected LAN based clients.
All interfaces support maximum possible data transfer rates to accelerate workflows and enhance usability. In addition, common criteria certification of the device (CC EAL 3+) allows usage of the device in security –relevant environments, especially for Secure PIN Entry (SPE) applications such as log-on or electronic signature. |
